Flores Rallies To Stop Lyons In 8th, Stays Perfect

December 4, 2013

It took a last round barrage of punches to help heavyweight Alexander Flores remain undefeated, as the now 14-0 boxer, behind on all three scorecards going into the final round, stopped Arron Lyons in the featured bout of Thursday’s 2013 Fight Club OC finale in The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center.

Before a standing room only crowd of 1,486, Flores who had a hard time all evening unloading on Lyons, finally worked his power hurting Lyons with big body shots before moving to the head with an array of punches promoting referee John McCarthy to waive it over at 2:04 of round eight.

“I know I wasn’t being active because he had his head on my chest all evening so it was hard to let go of my punches,” said Flores. “There are still a bunch of things I have to work on, as I give myself a C or D for this performance.” Flores is now 14-0 with 12 KOs and Lyons drops to 12-14.

In the other featured bout of the six fight card, Maywood’s Lissette Medel reached her goal of winning a world championship as she beat Melisenda Perez by a 97-93 count on all three cards taking home the vacant IFBA Super Featherweight World Championship.

Other bouts saw UC Irvine grad Daniel Kim recover from a second round flash knockdown to drop opponent Devonte Donaldson in the fourth round and take a UD of 38-36 on all cards. Kim moves to 1-1 and Donaldson goes to 1-2.

Danny Ramirez out of Norwalk stays perfect at 4-0 with a tight UD win over previously undefeated Dwain Victorian who drops to 3-1.

In the big MMA bout of the night Fullerton’s Curtis Millender moves to 4-0 with a tough UD win over very game Palmdale’s Alex Suhonosov.

In the special bout of the evening Russia’s Maxim Vlasov moves to 27-1 with a fourth round TKO against Maxell Taylor.
