Heavyweight contender Mike Perez will fight Darnell Wilson on February 5, promoter Roy Englebrecht informed BoxingScene.com on Saturday.
The eight round bout will headline a “Fight Night OC” card inside The Hangar at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California.
Perez was originally penciled to fight on January 9 at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California. Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions told BoxingScene.com the week of the fight a suitable opponent was not able to be approved by the California Athletic Commission.
The Cuban-born Perez (20-1-1, 12 KOs) has spent the last couple of months living and training in Oxnard, working with trainer Robert Garcia.
Perez has not fought since losing a 12 round split decision to Bryant Jennings at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 26.
In his last bout on November 8, Wilson (25-18-3, 21 KOs) was stopped in the seventh round at the hands of Vyacheslav Glazkov. Prior to that bout, Wilson knocked out David Rodriguez in the sixth round in December of 2013. The win snapped a five-bout losing streak.
Also on the card, unbeaten heavyweight Michael Hunter (6-0, 4 KOs) will fight Avery Gibson (4-4-3, 1 KO) in a scheduled eight round bout.
Junior welterweight Luis Mora (4-0-2, 3 KOs) will fight Dwain Victorian (4-3, 2 KOs) in a scheduled five round bout.
Three more boxing bouts, along with three mixed martial arts bouts, will round out the card.
