Top prospect 9-0 Antonio Orozco is over his April bout of sickness and is ready to face tough Bahamas Olympian Hensley Strachan in the featured bout of Fight Club OC on Thursday, June 2nd in The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center with the first bout at 7:30pm. This big jr welterweight showdown was to happen on the April 14th Fight Club OC show but Orozco came down with food poisoning the morning of the weigh in and the bout was scratched. With a win over Strachen who has five solid wins and has been in tough throughout his career, Orozco, who has Frank Espinoza as his manager, is in line to be signed by one of the top promotions companies, and join other Espinoza Boxing Club fighters like Israel Vasquez, Abner Mares, Carlos Molina, Luis Ramos, and Ronny Rios who have or will become top champions.
The June 2nd six bout card also will feature the pro boxing debut of Orange County’s Jessica Penne, whose MMA career include fights with Bellator and the AFL, and a sparkling 8-1 record. Penne will face Riverside’s 1-0 Cindy Amador with the fight at 109 lbs.
Tustin’s Paul Velarde will return to the ring after a multi year absence and he will face Long Beach’s Paul Green in a lightweight matchup. Both fighters are 2-1 and look to take a step up with a win in a very competitive bout.
Two very solid Mixed Martial Arts bouts are set, with local favorite 2-0 Mario Navarro meeting 1-1 Skylar Reider at 136 lbs, and the big guys David Mancha faces Ozzie Alvarez at 185 lbs.
