Local Fighters Score Debut Wins Before Packed House

April 8, 2016

It is a promoter’s dream when local fighters, making their pro debuts, win before hundreds of their supporters. That is what happened at Thursday night’s Fight Club OC show from The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA.

Before a sold out crowd of 1,432, which was the eighth straight Fight Club OC sellout, Santa Ana’s Ricky Frausto scored a UD win over game Steven Chad McKinney. Frausto scored a 1st round knockdown and kept the pressure on Las Vegas based McKinney all night, and fans showed their appreciation by tossing over $100 into the ring.

Huntington Beach heavyweight Adam Stewart, who had nearly 100 fans in attendance, won his professional debut with a four round split decision over 1-1 Matt McKinney of Oceanside. Two judges scored it 39-37 for Stewart, who was more accurate all night with his punches.

The third local debut fighter saw San Pedro’s Gabriel Green stop San Diego’s Andrew Lagdaan in the second round with appreciate fans again tossing money into the ring.

Undefeated Chicago boxer Nate Gallimore ran his record to 12-0 with a first round TKO over Luis Alfredo Lugo. A hard shot to the liver dropped Lugo and he could not recover in time.

The Fight Club OC show opened with LA’s Cashton Young stopping Dakota Walker in the second round. Young going to 2-0 dropped Walker with a big right and after beating the 10 count, he was floored again and the bout was waved off.

Thursday, June 9th will be the next edition of Fight Club OC.
