Continuing what he started 20 years ago when he promoted his first female boxing bout, promoter Roy Englebrecht announced today that he has signed 4-0 Southern California female boxer Seniesa Estrada to a promotional contract. Estrada who turns 23 this June is a former National Amateur Champion winning the Junior Olympics in 2007 and was the #1 ranked female amateur boxer in the USA when she won the 2009 USA National Championship in Colorado Springs. Her amateur record was an astonishing 97 wins and 4 losses.
“Having promoted more female boxing bouts than any other promoter in the history of the sport, I am thrilled to have Seniesa and her team join Roy Englebrecht Promotions,” said Englebrecht. “With her skills in the ring, her large Southern California following, and her inner and outer beauty, she is a promoter’s dream.”
The East LA native and flyweight is trained by veteran Dean Campos and managed by Oscar Sanchez. She will make her Fight Club OC debut on Thursday, August 27th. Seniesa was the talk of the GGG vs Monroe show at The Forum on May 16th in her win over Carly Batey, where she knocked Batey down in the 3rd round. Max Kellerman and Roy Jones were abuzz at ringside, with Jones commenting that she reminded him of a young Roy Jones!!
“I am very thankful and happy to sign with Roy Englebrecht Promotions,” said Estrada. “Roy has been very helpful and understanding with my team and me. I have been boxing for 16 years and have worked extremely hard to be where I am today and feel like it is my time to shine. I’m so glad Roy has given me the opportunity to do so and glad that he believes in me.”
Oscar Sanchez, Estrada’s manager was also thrilled with the signing of his fighter. “Signing with Roy’s company means that everything we have worked hard for has come full circle. Roy has been the true leader in promoting female bouts and now he will have one of the best woman boxer’s who will bring amazing talent to the ring.”
