October 26, 2013

Temecula, CA: Before a big crowd of 1,532 boxing fans Friday night at Pechanga Resort Casino, Riverside’s Sindy Amador won her first world title with a hard fought 10 round UD over La Mesa’s Amaris Quintana on a Roy Englebrecht Promotions card.

Just one year since their first meeting in which Amador also won over a very talented Quintana, Amador who improves to 11-1, seemed stronger and more concise with her punches in winning 96-94, 97-93, 98-92. Quintana drops to 6-2.

In the other co main event, local favorite Hector Serrano was just way too much for a very game Rogelio Castaneda. Serrano who fights out of Perris, dominated the action which saw the fighters stand toe-to-toe and trade punches for the entire eight rounds, with Castaneda just not able to answer the power of Serrano who improves to 18-3 and Castaneda drops to 26-18.

In undercard action recent UC Irvine graduate Daniel Kim lost his pro debut as he was outworked by Arizona’s Cory Muldrew. The fight seemed closer, with Kim the quicker fighter and stronger defense, but just couldn’t muster enough punches to win.

In a four round war, Diego Madrigal 2-0 and Cesar Martinez 4-1 fought to a four round majority draw, and Victorville’s Luis Hernandez 3-4 stopped debuter Roberto Duran with a big body shot in round two.

Ring Announcerwas LA Weatherman Mark Kriski, and undefeated jr middleweight Tony Harrison was seated at ringside.
