It will be mixed martial arts action and plenty of it, when Fight Club OC opens The Hangar doors on Thursday, April 7th at the OC Fair & Event Center.
MMA warriors John “Johnny Merc” Mecurio out of Huntington Beach and a good win away from a possible promotion to Bellator or the UFC will be in tough when he faces veteran fighter in Matt “Berserk” Lagler from San Diego. All this fight offers to fans are two warriors, with Mecurio at 7-7 with four of those wins by knockout, and Lagler with 11 wins with four by knockout and five by submission. This fight will be what MMA action is all about.
Not to be overshadowed how about an undefeated amateur MMA star turning pro. This will happen on April 7th as Gabriel “Vicious Lish” Green, fighting out of Tracy Hess’s Subfighter MMA gym turns pro and looks to continue his success as a pro. Green was 5-0 as a CAMO amateur with three knockouts and was the #4 ranked welterweight in California. What is amazing is that Green had no previous combat training and won his first bout after only three months of training.
With Fight Club OC shows always hybrid shows, boxing will also be highlighted with one of the top super middleweight prospects Malcolm McAllister returning to The Hangar. McAllister is an impressive 7-0 with all wins by knockout and has won five of his fights at the OC show venue.
The big boys will be in action as former college football star Adam Stewart turns pro and meets 1-1 Matt McKinney in heavyweight action. Steward played football at Pittsburg State in Kansas and now lives and trains in Huntington Beach. McKinney, out of Oceanside is a former college water polo player and brings a 1-1-1 record to the four rounder.
Plus, Santa Ana native and undefeated jr. middleweight Bryan Flores makes his local boxing debut. Flores a graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Business Administration will look to extend his 3-0 record.
