Flores Goes To 10-0 With KO Win

August 17, 2012

Costa Mesa, CA., Heavyweight prospect Alexander Flores celebrated his 22nd birthday with an impressive eight round knockout of tough Henry Namauu at Roy Englebrecht’s Fight Club OC show, Thursday night in The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center. Before a sold out crowd of 1,348, including Jonathan Banks, Tito Ortiz, and Shane Del Rosario, the two talented heavyweights put on quite a show.

Flores who won every round was in complete control throughout the eight round battle, but his power was more devastating and in the fourth Flores sent Namauu to the canvas with a short, hard left, then knocked him down again in the fourth with a vicious left hook, with a wobbly Namauu able to survive the round.

Namauu who was willing to trade with Flores, just could not phase Flores who took some good shots but didn’t even flinch. In the eighth round Flores hurt Namauu with a solid right, and followed that up with a flurry of blows against the ropes that Namauu couldn’t defend against, which prompted referee Tom Taylor to jump in before anymore punishment could be dealt.

With the KO win, Flores, the current WBC Heavyweight Youth Champion, goes to 10-0 while Namauu drops to 10-5. The scorecards had it 70-61 and 69-62 twice.

The rest of the six bout card was just a enjoyable for the capacity crowd, as four fighters remained undefeated with Isaac Tadeo going to 3-0 with a fourth-round TKO win over Silvanio Reyes (0-2)in a light middleweight bout, and Flores stable-mate Byron Gonzales was in a tough battle with  jr welterweight Ricardo Malfavon before he stopped Malfavon with a third round TKO. In a great opening bout lightweight prospect Luis Bello goes to 3-0, but had to work for the win, as he won a split decision over Alejandro Ochoa who drops to 1-2. The cards had Bello 39-36 twice, and Ochoa 38-37. Super middleweight Brady Rein goes to 2-0-2Kos, with a  third round TKO win over Santa Rosa’s Omar Barefield who drops to 0-2; and in an all Orange County matchup Dana Point’s Rob Emerson (13-10) scored a first round stoppage over Buena Park’s Jason Williams (4-5).

The next Fight Club OC show will be Thursday, October 4th and tickets are available at www.fightcluboc.com.
