If you like knockouts , upsets, and underdogs winning,  the Fight Club OC show Thursday night in The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center was  your cup of tea. All Roy Englebrecht Promotions presented for the sold out crowd of 1,430 was seven pro bouts that were as wide of Midwest weather in April, and if you bet the favorite it was not a good night for you.

It all started with the first bout of the night when pro debut fighter David Lopez from Pomona scored an electrifying 2nd round knockout of Anaheim’s 3-0 Tony Thompson. Follow that with a draw between 2-1 Tavorus and 3-0 Tevin Watts which saw money thrown into the ring and you knew fight fans were in for a great evening of ring action.

Local female 1-0 Nadja Ropac has the crowd on her side, but Denver’s 3-1 Kirstie Simmons quieted them with a 3rd round knockout, as she rocked Ropac in the red corner with a left hand and followed up with five unanswered punches before referee Jack Reiss waved it off.

In a rematch of a draw on the June Fight Club OC show, it was another barnburner as 1-1-1 Daniel Kim and 0-1-1 Sopaun Rin fought a five round war and when the smoked cleared it had Rin winning an unpopular UD with all three judges scoring it 48-47. Kim suffered a broken nose for his gallant effort.

In the featured bout of the evening 5-0 Kevin Watts out of Lancaster moved to 6-0 with a workman like unanimous win over a very game 6-6 Larry Ventus. Watts is a prospect to watch which is mostly why he is an Al Haymon fighter.

Fight Club OC returns to action on Thursday, October 16th with 14-1 heavyweight Alexander Flores looking to get back I the win column. Tickets for this show are available at www.fightcluboc.com.
