Flores Stops Sconiers in 1st, Goes to 12-0

March 1, 2013

Costa Mesa, CA.; Before a sold out Fight Club OC crowd of 1,341, undefeated heavyweight prospect Alexander Flores made short work of his fight with veteran Harold Sconiers, stunning Sconiers late in the first round, and after seven unanswered punches referee Raul Caiz Jr jumped in to put an end to the inevitable at 2:49 of the first round. With the win, Flores, who is promoted by Roy Englebrecht Promotions upped his record to 12-0 and has scored eight straight KO wins.

The opening night of season three for Fight Club OC in The Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center saw more fireworks on the six bout card. Anaheim jr welterweight Joaquin Chavez scored a vicious knockout over San Bernardino’s Luis Hernandez with a big left- right combination that put Hernandez out before he hit the canvas at 2:59 of the second. Chavez goes to 2-5 with the win and Hernandez is now 1-3.

In a featherweight matchup, perhaps the happiest person in The Hangar was Westminster’s Edgar Flores who scored his first pro win after six straight loses. Flores electrified the crowd with a second round knockout of Azusa’s Danny Martinez. A joyous Flores is now 1-6 and Martinez evens his record at 3-3.

In a good female jr featherweight matchup, Cassie Trost and Celene Roman fought to a split decision draw. The fight was close all four round as the females stood in center ring and traded punches all night. Roman is now 2-1-1 and Trost moves to 1-1-1.

The mixed martial arts portion of Fight Club OC was in keeping with the high level of energy that filled the massive arena. In two fights of the year candidates, Curtis Millender and Paul Gammati fought all three rounds at the highest level of ability, with Millender taking a unanimous decision in his pro debut and Gemmati falling to 0-2. And German Baltazar topped James Acosta in another war, taking a unanimous decision over James Acosta in another all action fight. Baltazar moves to 3-1 and Acosta drops to 0-2.

Fight Club OC returns to The Hangar on Thursday, April 11th.
