COSTA MESA – Steffan Lugo of Costa Mesa had most of the 1,300-plus spectators in the Hangar on his side for his 166-pound boxing match against Stockton’s Robert Lopez.

But Lopez had punching power on his side at Fight Club OC, held Thursday at the OC Fair & Event Center.

In what was a close fight most of the way, Lopez wound up landing a barrage of heavy punches and knocked out Lugo at 2:14 of the fourth round. Lugo, a Newport Harbor graduate, dropped to 1-1.

The fight was one of six on the hybrid card that featured five boxing and one mixed martial arts bouts.

In a 145-pound MMA match and the only other bout featuring a county fighter, Tyler Weathers of Fullerton (7-7) got stopped by a triangle choke hold in the second round by Seth Dikun of Victorville.

Heavyweight boxer Lionel Davis of Carson took advantage of his significant height advantage and used plenty of jabs to keep Ray Lopez away.

By the fourth round, Lopez’s left eye was shut and his face was a bloody mess.

Davis improved to 9-0 after the fight was stopped at 1:57 of round four.

Hugo Centeno stayed perfect (8-0) with a unanimous decision over Santa Rosa’s Jovanni Rubio in a 149-pound fight.

In a hard-fought battle between two women, Holly Lawson (145) of Los Angeles improved to 1-1 with a split decision over Adriana Leal of Coachella.

In another heavyweight match, Andre Carthron of Los Angeles won a unanimous decision over Giovanni Sarran of Palmdale.
